Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif ‎

Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif is a prominent figure in the international banking sector, boasting over four decades of extensive experience. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Fintech Galaxy.

Mr. Yousif commenced his illustrious career at the Arab Banking Corporation, dedicating over 20 years to the institution. During his tenure, he ascended to the roles of Director on its Board and Chairman & CEO of ABC Islamic Bank. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Hull, UK. In recognition of his significant contributions to contemporary Islamic finance, Al Jinan University of Lebanon conferred upon him an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.

From 2004 to 2020, Mr. Yousif served as the President and CE of Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG). Under his visionary leadership, ABG evolved into one of the largest and most diversified Islamic banking groups globally, operating approximately 700 branches across 17 countries. His leadership roles within ABG’s subsidiaries included Chairman of Al Baraka Turk Participation Bank, Jordan Islamic Bank, Al Baraka Bank Egypt, Banque Al Baraka D’Algerie S.P.A., Al Baraka Bank Pakistan Ltd., Al Baraka Bank Sudan, Al Baraka Bank Ltd. South Africa, Al Baraka Bank Syria s.a., and BTI Bank Morocco. He was also Vice Chairman of Al Baraka Islamic Bank B.S.C.©, Bahrain, and a Board Member of Al Baraka Bank Tunisia and Itqan Capital in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Yousif’s contributions to banking and social responsibility have been widely recognized. He served as the Chairman of the Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) from April 2017 till October 2024. He was also the Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks from 2007 to 2013. His accolades include the Medal of Efficiency (2011) awarded by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, the Honorary Freedom Award (2017) conferred by the City of London, and the Islamic Finance Personality of the Year (2017) by the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA). He also received the LARIBA Award for Excellence in Achievement (2012), Islamic Banker of the Year (2004 and 2009), Excellence in Partner Empowerment (2019) by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, Arab Economic Socially Responsible Personality Award (2018), Scientific Competency Award in CSR and Business Ethics, International Excellence in CSR (2019) during the International Congress of CSR in Morocco, Outstanding Contribution in CSR in Islamic Banking (2017) by the 12th Islamic Business & Finance Awards, High Commissioner for Advocating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (2016) by the CSR Regional Network, CSR International Ambassador (Kingdom of Bahrain) (2015), and the Gold Award for Sustainable Development (2016).

In January 2023, Mr. Yousif received the International Excellence Award in Social Responsibility for being one of the most influential personalities in the field for 2022. In addition to his role at BAB, Mr. Yousif was appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Governmental Hospitals by royal decree on June 9, 2019.
